York's street cleaning
I am a resident of York City. Tuesday morning I walked out of my house to find that my car was nowhere in sight. I have only lived here for one year so I am still getting used to street cleaning. I found out today that street cleaning began March 15. I had no way of knowing this because I do not receive the newspaper. The city does not send out a letter or anything to let me know the start date but they can waste money to send a newsletter that means nothing to me. I guess this is why they tow so many cars so they can pay for this. Shouldn't every resident be notified. The signs on my street only say the days of the month and time but doesn't include the months of the year.

I had to go to the police station on King Street, which they had a paper posted stating the start date of street cleaning. I guess I have to be a criminal to keep up to date on what is going on. Then I had to proceed to Intown Motors on Philadelphia Street which doesn't open until 10 am. Which made me late for work. Along with my car at least 10 other cars were towed from my street alone at $120 a piece and a $15 ticket. Where is this money going since my road is full of potholes and York City has some of the highest taxes.
Last year I was told by neighbors they just put a ticket on your car the first month. Since I don't get a simple piece of paper in the mail shouldn't I at least get a warning.

You just can't believe everything your neighbors say sometimes. They might have good intentions but don't necessarily always have the best info. Your best bet is to never park your car on the posted street-sweeping nights, no matter what month it is. Or call City Hall to find out when it is safe to do so. I feel for you though.
