Pa. needs smoking ban

| | Comments (1)

Do you mind if I pee in your coffee pot?

It is a matter of choice – my choice; It is a matter of individual rights.

I will even pee in the far side of the pot. The coffee goes through a filter so it will not do any harm to anyone. People can always choose to use another pot.

Ridiculous? Why can’t I contaminate your coffee?

These are the same arguments used by those who oppose a rigid smoking ban in Pennsylvania. Contamination is contamination whether it is contamination of coffee, water or air.

“Secondhand smoke contains more than 50 cancer-causing chemicals,” according to the Surgeon General. His report goes on to say, “. . .the only way to protect nonsmokers from the dangerous chemicals in secondhand smoke is to eliminate smoke indoors.” He further states, “There is no risk-free level of secondhand smoke.” It travels throughout any building and no filtration system is effective in preventing its movement from room to room. Smoking and nonsmoking areas are as absurd as being able to pee in one corner of a coffee pot and thinking that the whole pot is not being contaminated.

Peeing in someone’s coffee is no more absurd than blowing smoke in another’s air. How long can Pennsylvania legislators play games with the health of its citizens? The time to ban smoking in public places is now!

Please refer to the Surgeon General’s report of June 27, 2006

“There is no risk-free level of secondhand smoke.”
That was a comment by former surgeon general that was not supported in the report.
The report was a meta-analysis of previous studies, many of which were biased and discarded by Federal Judge Osteen in 1998. The surgeon general report left out studies that were contrary to his belief making the findings prejudicial.
Those that quote the former surgeon general are just as bigoted as he. Support the dogma like any other religious fanatic.
As to your coffee comments ha-ha. Open a place if that is your pleasure and advertise your flavoring preference.
Be adult and make your own choice without the force of law. If smoking is allowed do not go there--simple, but not to the simple.
