Service to the U.S.A.

In reply to Ms. Ann Miller's letter of April 17. Ms. Miller, your prejudice is showing. Being the son of a combat veteran (WW2, PTO), a combat veteran myself (SWA/Desert Shield, Storm and Farewell) and the proud father of a currently serving NCO with 1 tour in Afganistan and 2 tours in Iraq, I feel somewhat qualified to speak on the issue.

The assumption that any one party has a monopoly on military service shows Ms. Miller's contempt for the honorable profession of arms. Ms. Miller, you have besmirched the service of any one who is not of your particular political persuasion. You owe every Gold Star, Silver Star or Blue Star parent an apology.

When we take the oath to serve no one asks us our polical affiliation. We serve the USA not the DNC or the GOP.

I don't know that she was showing contempt for the military, just the war that we find ourselves mired in. I currently serve in the Military, and I can tell you I don't understand it. I don't think anyone is there fighting for anyones freedom here. If we were concerned about ruthless dictactors, what about all the outer one in non oil rich countries. I applaud all our service, but remember we defend the consitution, and sometimes I don't think our leaders keep that in mind.
