Cable monopoly
I didn’t see it coming nor did I hear it slithering towards me. POW!!! I got Comcasted right out my shorts. That’s right, I forgot all about the ending of my year long promotional pricing (as if anyone keeps track of that) and then they pounced.

My latest bill showed an increase of over $60 from what I was paying before. No warning shot across my pockets but a shot aimed straight at my wallet. No friendly warning on the previous statement that my monthly bill was to increase so maybe I could make some changes and save some money for an extra couple gallons of gas.
When I called to downgrade my package I informed I would be charged almost $15 for downgrading my subscription. Imagine that!! They are charging me even more money when I am trying to save some for something like food.
Cable companies have enjoyed monopolies far too long and it’s about time our so-called benevolent government stepped up to the plate for its constituents and allows competition in the marketplace. As it stands right now you can subscribe to the only cable monopoly in town or switch to a satellite service. And with only two main satellites we are still sorely limited.
I would urge all to write their local, state and federal representatives and make them put a stop to the one town, one cable company rule. Open up the market to competition and let the market set the price, not Comcast. As for me I told them to shut down all my services immediately and I am waiting on the guy from Dish Network to install my dish next week. In the meantime there are always board games, books and Blockbuster.
