Human decency cuts profits

Eugene Paik's article on the treatment of immigrants was very enlightening. I had heard that we had been allowing immigrants to die in prison without medical care, and wondered why, as Christians, we found that to be necessary. Now I understand. We do it for money . . . Great Heaps Of Money! Did we forget that Jesus was poor and indigent?

It is astonishing to me that we actually imprison asylum seekers including children. And the deaths are only the tip of the iceberg. For everyone who died, there must be many more who were in medical distress and survived while we did nothing.

But the separation of families and random reassignment that sabotages their legal defense really puts it in perspective. We really don't care about these people at all. It is a for-profit enterprise, and human decency would cut into the profits.

Who are we? Jesus said "Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord,' [] Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!" So Thanks A Lot York County, for making me stand on the left with the goats. You have abused the powerless for money, and your excuse is that you did it for me, to lower my taxes. Thank you.
