Reader puzzled by letter

Marg Gotwald's letter concerning gay marriage is puzzling. She quotes from the Declaration concerning the "Creator" and how people are endowed by "Him" with certain inalienable rights: life (she must be against abortion), liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

The pursuit of happiness. Does this give people license to do anything that "makes them feel good"? I think not. Some enjoy hurting animals needlessly, some abduct and kill children, some hurt and kill other people, some intentionally spread disease, steal, lie, etc.
Ms. Gotwald should know that you cannot marry anyone you want. You can't marry your son or daughter, or close relative. An adult cannot marry a child. You can't marry an animal.
She mentions the "Creator", yet does not this Creator in His "guide book" say all the above are wrong? This Creator says marriage is between a man and a woman. His "best way" is not mine, not Ms. Gotwald's, not the courts.
I suggest that " we the people" vote on this marriage issue, and let the people decide if homosexuality is a beneficial or detrimental lifestyle. I'm sure Ms. Gotwald would not "be hate-filled" if the "will of the people" preveils.
Perhaps Ms. Gotwald should become more informed about this "Creator" and His "guide book".
