Liberal Big Brother views
In the York Daily Record " OUR OPINION " dated July 8, 2008 you state that a 70 year old man was drowned last week and the state should seriously consider removing this dam as unsafe. Is not every dam in the country unsafe if you continue past the required posted DANGER signs?
Also was he a good strong swimmer, did he have on a life jacket? I always thought an unsafe dam was one that had a week breast with perhaps water seeping through and very old and not well maintained and not posted with danger signs.

I am beginning to expect this kind of reporting from your paper, very liberal BIG BROTHER views. When do people take responsibility for their own actions and not expect the state or someone else to make their decisions.
A more responsible article ' MY OPINION " would have read. A 70 year man unfortunately drowned while tubing with a group on the Yellow Breeches Creek. A very popular way to cool off by many over the years. The group came upon a low-head dam. This dam was posted as dangerous by the PA Fish and Boat Commission as required by law. One member disregarded the posted sign and went ahead to check it out. Then the 70 year old man also disregarded the posted warning and went on to assess the dam as well, he was found floating face down in the water.
