Fine disparity

| | Comments (1)

In the July 28th edition of the York Sunday News, on page 1C, there is an article reporting that a local nursing home was fined $7,250 for the negligent death of a resident.

On page 2C of the same issue, it is reported that PPL had to pay a fine of $77,500 for accidental fish kills in the Susquehanna River.

Both fatalties are certainly to be lamented but it seems as though the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania puts a tenfold higher value on the lives of fish than it does on human beings.
