Let commissioners pay

| | Comments (0)

So here we read about the juror determined value of the "Highpoint" property at $17.25 MILLION Dollars. Reading on we find that our elected commissioners (those people that we elected to be the "responsible" stewards of OUR money) are now in scramble mode to figure out how to pay for it.

It occurs to me while reading this article that most of "We" the people don't subscribe to "eminent domain" which is, of course, how we got here in the first place. WHY should "we the people" of York County who don't subscribe to "Eminent Domain" be made to pay for this wrongfully taken land.

The Commissioners took it, against public opinion, to stop development when they should have just toughened up the development rules. Now that they are being made to pay its fair price and I as one of "we the people" of York County say let the commissioners pay for it. We didn't want it in the first place and now we are being told we have to pay for it. It's wrong!
