Red Lion Mile
At last night's council meeting in Red Lion a large number of people attended to find out about THE RED LION MILE rail trail project. Many donors to this project received a letter signed by Scott Thompson, Ryan Sanders, and Sandra Graham. The letter outlined difficulties with the Borough over completion of the project. Funds collected for the project may have been misapplied by the Borough. I was upset by this letter as our Red Lion Rotary Club had raised close to $4,000 for the project.

We all received a copy of a Memorandum of Understanding between Borough Council and the Redevelopment Commission. After discussion and questions from the floor and Ryan Sanders saying that the MOU was workable, the council voted in favor of the MOU. As a supporter of the project I and many people left the meeting feeling good that the project would proceed under the direction of the Redevelopment Commission. The council gave us every assurance that the project would proceed as planned.
I was shocked when the 11 p.m. news said that the council had fired Scott, Sandy, and Ryan from the Redevelopment Commission. These were the three spark plugs that excited most of us about the project and were responsible for most of the donations. I am sure there would have been a lot of descent had the council not waited until all supporters of the mile left the chambers. Why get rid of the people with the vision and skill to help complete the project?
Red Lion Borough has a history of petty actions. I am disappointed with Red Lion.
