This is 2008, not 1950

If Mr. Fulkerson wants to call me naive I would appreciate it if he would at least research the things he's going to use to illustrate his point.

First of all, the majority of states have laws saying that a marriage is between a man and a woman. Without laws requiring recognition of same sex marriages it's not as simple as going out of state, marrying and then returning home.

Secondly, Crystal Dixon was fired because she was in a position that required her to view everyone equally at all times. Her prejudeces should have been kept to herself. If a white or black woman in that position had publicly criticized interracial marriages she would have been fired as well.

Thirdly, the last time I checked, justices of the peace are supposed to follow the law, not write it. If you can't perform the duties assigned to your profession it might be time to find a new one. Noone else gets to pick which rules they want to follow at work and which rules they do not. Why should they be any different?

"The most striking example," is anything but. If you were denied goods or services based on an aspect of your personal life, say religious affiliation for instance, which you have chosen, you would be up in arms. It would then be a completely different situation and the consumer would be the victim and not the provider. It's freedom of religion not freedom of discrimination. No shoes, no shirt, gay, no service. This is 2008 not 1950.

Lastly it IS just about marriage. I have yet to meet an atheist or agnostic that believes homosexuality to be wrong. It's bible morality that says otherwise, not human morailty, and the bible has no right in the laws governing the United States of America.

Right ON! Christians need to get out of the dark ages. God gave us brains why don't some people use them.
