Campaign of lies revisited
In his column about false information being spread concerning the presidential election Leonard Pitts left out at least one very important lie. That is Barack Obama's position on The Second Amendment to The Constitution of The United States. He has consistently voted, and has frequently stated that he opposes both the ability to own (keep) some of the most common and useful firearms available to law-abiding citizens, and their ability to carry (bare) them for the protection of themselves and society. Yet he says he supports the "individual right", and makes statements Like, "I wont take your guns". Before the recent Supreme Court ruling concerning the D.C. gun ban was announced he stated that the ban was constitutional. That law banned all handguns and required that long guns be made unavailable in an emergency.
I do not "cling to my guns" because I am bitter. I cling to my guns because people like Barack Obama want to take them away, or at least make it so my children and grandchildren can't have any. That may increase some peoples comfort level for the short run, but in the long run it could cause great harm to our country.
I do not know Barack Obama's personal views on The Second Amendment, I doubt he has one. Like many politicians of his ambition level, he supports what his big money backers, and the focus groups tell him to support.

When did assault rifles become some of the most common and useful firearms available?
G.M. just what is a "assault" weapon. Please explain. It is a catch phrase the Libs love to throw around. If you would check your facts the ban on your so called assualt rifles did nothing to lower gun crime. Law abiding citizens are the only folks that lose there rights when more gun laws and bans are enacted. I own 3 "assualt" rifles and believe it or not they never even hurt a fly. Imagine.
