It seems we have some "religious" people who call themselves "christian". Yet they do not follow the main tenents of the founder of this religion and his guide book. Why? Do they belong to the P and C (pick and choose) denomination? They choose to believe only certain parts of the Bible and discard the rest, or make excuses that it doesn't apply in today's world.

One candidate for president has concerned himself with the dietary customs of the acient Isrealites and the ban on eating shellfish. I wonder if he comments on the eating restrictions of Muslims, Hindus, and Jewish people today? He comments on the beatitudes and wonders how they affect military operations.
Hasn't he read "the rest of the story"? The Bible teaches its followers to love and forgive, to spread the
Word, human life is sacred, children are a blessing from God, the taking of innocent life is wrong, we were known before the foundations of the world. Obviously, this candidate did not read the whole book!
He doesn't know when human life begins? It's above his paygrade. Let me explain. A sperm with 23 pairs of chromosomes is formed. Left alone, that's all it will ever be, and it will eventually die. An egg is formed with 23 pairs of chromosomes. Left alone, that's all it will ever be, and it will eventually die. However, when the egg and sperm unite, a unique living human being is formed with 46 pairs of chromosomes. If left alone, it grows, developes, matures.
Perhaps he and many others are CINOs.....christians in name only.

Good thing the nation is governed by the Constitution, not the book of lies known as the Bible.
I love how may so-called Christians are so concerned with the lives of the unborn, but show so little regard for the lives of the folks already here. Abortion? No. Killing thousands of innocent civilians along with soldiers in a pre-emptive war? That's OK. Abortion? No. But trying to help prevent unwanted pregnancies through contraception, education, and other preventive means? No way. What about trying to help financially support women who cannot afford to carry a child to term? Hell, no!
What about the other principles Jesus espoused? Lifting up the poor and the sick, forgiveness, compassion, etc.?
Seems like the only "Christian values" many "Christians" believe in are: anti-abortion, anti-gay, pro-gun, pro-war. Last I knew guns and wars had nothing to do with real Christian values.
