Respect and faith

"I stand here knowing that my story is part of the larger American story ... and that, in no other country on earth, is my story even possible." He said it all right there in that speech last night.

Today (Nov. 5) was a rough day for me because I saw some of my fellow Americans act in such ignorance. I feel that some of us acted as if yesterday's election was an NFL game. After a football game, we still remain supporting the same team we went into the game supporting. That is not how the American presidency works. Yes, we go in there picking a team but when it's all said and done one man is picked for the job by us, the American people, and we have to learn even if we're on the losing end that he is our president no matter what. Respect and faith is needed in him.

I think the outcomes of the election provided something that every single American needs right now: hope. Obama has shown the American people that we CAN be anything we set our mind to. Hard work is all it takes.

I'm only 17 years old and I feel as if I am more informed than people I heard today running their mouths about socialism and whatnot. I think it's crazy how we can say these things about each other because some of us can't stand being on the losing team.

I was one very proud American last night knowing we were able to put race aside. Now I hope we can go hand and hand with our neighbors who may have different beliefs, respect each other, and most importantly help Barack Obama in putting our country back in the right direction.

Remember, this wasn't an NFL game, the losing and winning team need to come together, and truly believe that change has finally arrived.

Stevi, I am glad you Think you are so smart. First off, Obama and the liberals punish hard working people by taking the money we work very hard for and give it to those that don't. Secondly, race has nothing to do with the election, unless you yourself are a racist. Are you glad he got elected because he is black? What happened to a color blind society? And lastly, maybe when (If) you grow up, spemd time in the military as I did, pay taxes for 39 years as I have been doing and trying to save and provide for my family, then maybe, just maybe, you will be smart enough to understand why I am afraid of socialist(Democrats). Grow up and understand before you open your mouth.
