Swing Low Sweet Willows
The York Daily Record has reached a new low in its viciously personal attacks on the Kohr Family, Peter Alexihs, and Commissioner Steve Chronister in your editorial on Veterans Day.
There are many good reasons to preserve lands for public use for the future, however the Lauxmont Farm plan was ill conceived, and disastrously executed. Although the loss of funding for the taxpayers is deplorable, what I find equally appalling was the demonization of a family trying to get out of bankruptcy rather than walking away from their debts, and a developer protecting his business.
Had the previous commissioners who executed this plan acted in a professional manner in dealing with the interested parties, rather than dragging them through the mud on the pages of your paper, all of York County might be better off.
The lesson York County residents should take away from this sad affair, is that the courts supported the land owners in every case. In the eminent domain case that is pending on Route 24, local residents and business owners will have the same opportunity to make their case. Using this situation as another opportunity to slander the Kohr family, Mr Alexihs and Commissioner Chronister is pathetic.
