A few weeks ago I went to Nixon Park Nature Center for the first time. I was there to cover a reptile week presentation, but I had a few minutes to look around before things started. The presentation was being held in a room covered with the stuffed and mounted heads of animals. (At one point, I got poked in the rear by a bison horn as I back up for a photo.)
I was mostly testing my white balance, but I was struck by this array of different deer heads mounted on one of the walls. It reminded me of something out of the Pawnee Parks Department on the NBC show Parks and Recreation. I loved the symmetry of the small heads surrounding the large ones. I don’t find it creepy, but I’m not sure I’d like to always be surrounded by this many stuffed heads.
