Word just in: FEMA Director Mike Brown, whose previous experience as commissioner of the International Arabian Horse Association surprisingly failed to adequately prepare him to handle the worst disaster in American history, resigned today.
Something about wanting to spend more time with his family.
And so far, as reported elsewhere, there have been no reports of mass suicides among Arabian horses.
Here is what I wrote about Brownie on Sunday.

If you can't take the heat let a firefighter take over.
There you go again Argento. Typical liberal blather. Brownie is a fine American. It's good to have someone who know a thing about Arabian horse suicide bombers working for FEMA.
for some reason, i couldn't read argento's entire column. it was once again covered with his liberal blood.
in addition to stepping down to spend more time with his family, didn't he also plan on drinking a vodka tonic?
This one supercededs politics, folks. Anyone who refuses to criticize the response or wants the administration to dodge responsibility simply because of partisan politics is not acting in the best interests of this country.
Umm...strange. Brown managed FEMA through 9/11 terrorist attacks, midwestern floods, wildfires and numerous tornado and hurricane disasters over the past 6 years very successfully, but NOW he's incompetent because he worked with Arabian horses. Note to press: If you thought he was unqualified, why not mention that when he was confirmed back in 2001? No, just save it until you can make the White House look bad. Seems like "Brownie" did a fine job until this point.
Besides, Brown is middle-mgmt. Chertoff should have gotten the ax for admitting to NOT WATCHING TV post-storm and not seeing the horrific devestation.
Editor's note on previous comment:
Brown was not director of FEMA during 9/11. He became director after the resignation of Joe Allbaugh following inclusion of the agency under the Department of Homeland Security.
