The rule of law, sort of, maybe

U.S. Attorney General Michael Mukasey announced today that our local-girl-made-good Monica Goodling would not be charged with breaking the law, even though, he said, she did.

The attorney general, the highest ranking law enforcement officer in the land said this:

"Not every wrong, or even every violation of the law, is a crime."

Not every violation of the law is a crime.

That's good to know.

I seem to recall, not long ago, people harping about the rule of law and all of that. When it's your team breaking the law, I guess the rules are a little more flexible.

Gees, where was the AG when that smart-alecky Dauphin cop ticketed me for making a right turn after stopping because I couldn't see that litte bitty "NO TURN ON RED" sign at that big wide intersection at the farm show building? That "violation of the law" was a $20.00 fine that added over $100.00 to Dauphin's coffers by the time they added everything but the light bill to the fine!
