Word has arrived that York County native and bluegrass legend Del McCoury is recovering from gall bladder surgery.
Del was having some stomach pain last week and when he went to the hospital, ge was diagnosed with an inflamed gall bladder. He had surgery on Dec. 12 and went home the next day.
The band, Del's family, released this statement: "The McCoury family would like to thank all of those who expressed concern and prayed for the family during this time. Del is anticipating a quick recovery and is looking forward to enjoying the holidays with his family and resuming personal appearances and other work in January."
Heal up, Del. The world needs you. And to all of you, send some mojo Del's way. Del is a great musician and an ever greater human.
