Paterno, Billie Jean King, Stephen Hawking

News comes that JoePa may join that crowd as a recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian award our government hands out.

U.S. Rep. Glenn Thompson, R-Centre County, nominated Paterno for the award. In his letter, he wrote, "There has never been an accusation of corrupt recruiting and, in what is depressingly rare, his players stay in school and graduate."

Wonder if JoePa will wear the medal on the sidelines this season. It'll help when he yells at the refs. "Hey, I got one of these! What do you have?"

It should sail through, unless Congress attaches it to a bill to extend unemployment benefits. Then, it's dead.
