About this blog
Mike Argento, a York native and graduate of York Suburban Area High School and Penn State, first came to the York Daily Record in 1983. He even had gray hair back then. After stints covering everything from cops to city hall to state government to the environment, he began writing a column for the paper, three times a week, in 1989. His column can be about anything and so is his blog, which encompasses life in York County and beyond. And, for the record, as he told his wife the other night, he wishes people would stop asking him, 'What's wrong with you?' He really doesn't know.

Jeff goes missing
And Tom and I can’t figure out how to operate the bell. We’ll get it sussed out and maybe even figure out where Jeff is. Meantime, enjoy as the What Have We Learned Team makes bad jokes about German foreign … Continue reading

Good luck with that
The Harrisburg Patriot reports that Pennsylvania District Attorneys and WITF-TV have created an educational program intended to make students too smart to commit crimes. Talk about setting the bar high.

Special edition alert: We discuss the law
Sort of. In this week’s edition of What Have We Learned, the team discusses a lawsuit filed by a man who was insulted by a woman. There’s more to it than that, but, well, it’s difficult to explain. That, and … Continue reading

Amazing rescue
If you’ve been following the Chilean mine disaster, you know that the miners are on the way up, rescued. Pretty amazing. The one I’m waiting for is the guy whose wife and girlfriend are waiting for him. I think he … Continue reading

I’m guessing this didn’t work
From the Orlando Sentinel: “A man stopped for speeding told deputies that marijuana and crack cocaine found in his buttocks did not belong to him, bradenton.com reported.” Couple of things: If that’s true, I really wouldn’t want to know how … Continue reading

The stimulus and the bailout
First, from the Washington Post: “The massive economic stimulus package President Obama pushed through Congress last year is coming in on time and under budget – and with strikingly few claims of fraud or abuse – according to a White … Continue reading
