About this blog
Mike Argento, a York native and graduate of York Suburban Area High School and Penn State, first came to the York Daily Record in 1983. He even had gray hair back then. After stints covering everything from cops to city hall to state government to the environment, he began writing a column for the paper, three times a week, in 1989. His column can be about anything and so is his blog, which encompasses life in York County and beyond. And, for the record, as he told his wife the other night, he wishes people would stop asking him, 'What's wrong with you?' He really doesn't know.

We celebrate Michele Bachmann’s candidacy!
Michele Bachmann announced she is running for president. As people who trade in low humor, Tom and I rejoice. She is a comedy gift. We begin with my lame attempts to make fun of the crazy-eyed congresswoman from Minnesota. Republican … Continue reading

We go back to the well
What Have We Learned goes back to the well for the low-hanging comedic fruit that is Sarah Palin. We’re so ashamed that we mixed up our metaphors. That, and a summer solstice joke. You can’t find man summer solstice everywhere. … Continue reading

A shout out to a terrible movie, and more Weiner!
In this week’s edition of What Have We Learned, Tom and I discuss Weinergate and that it may have something to do with the guy’s name. Who figured on that? And we discuss perhaps the most depraved, terrible movie ever … Continue reading

What Have We Learned goes all meta!
This week’s edition of What Have We Learned will be a very special episode in which we go text. I know, you faithful listeners — hi, Tom’s folks — will miss the dulcet tones of our voices as we stumble … Continue reading

Best city council meeting ever!
This is great. In a “Blazing Saddles” kind of way.

Weiners in the news
The big news today, of course, is Anthony Weiner’s weiner. By now, you probably know much more about Weiner’s weiner than you care to know or ever thought you’d ever know. You probably never even heard of Weiner, a Democratic … Continue reading

Trump and Palin, and other jokes.
This week’s edition celebrates Sarah Palin’s summer vacation bus trip with these jokes: Sarah Palin said her bus tour to historic sites along the East Coast was designed to celebrate America’s heritage, and not to generate publicity for her. What … Continue reading
