About this blog
Mike Argento, a York native and graduate of York Suburban Area High School and Penn State, first came to the York Daily Record in 1983. He even had gray hair back then. After stints covering everything from cops to city hall to state government to the environment, he began writing a column for the paper, three times a week, in 1989. His column can be about anything and so is his blog, which encompasses life in York County and beyond. And, for the record, as he told his wife the other night, he wishes people would stop asking him, 'What's wrong with you?' He really doesn't know.

Tom and talk Penn State, kind of, briefly, not really.
It’s been a couple of weeks. Time for a Penn State joke. Tastefully done, of course. Penn State’s career development office has sent a letter to students offering advice on what to say to prospective employers regarding the scandal enveloping … Continue reading

Old people and the Kardashians, or at least one of them
This week, Tom and I discuss old people, the Kardashian marriage and some other stuff, such as how, if we were running for president, we’d be drunk all the time too. First off, the old people: The FBI arrested four … Continue reading

Death by misadventure and Harleys, not at the same time
This week, Tom and I worked out some jokes about Amy Winehouse — What? Too soon? — and recalled Harleys. But first, a joke about an obscene phone caller. A 43-year-old Central Pennsylvania man was sentenced to probation in Cumberland … Continue reading

Very special Herman Cain edition!
We love Herman Cain. The guy cracks us up. Anyway, he’s been in the news lately — what’s he been up to? — and we couldn’t help but notice. First off, a video… Good God! And now, the joke: A … Continue reading

Stoned old people
In this week’s edition of What Have We Learned, Tom and I discuss stoned old people, lawsuits and the legal genius of Lionel Hutz, having fun in Vegas and the Black Death. First up, stoned old people. Three Huntington … Continue reading
Dress up the deer!
In this week’s edition, Tom and I talk about deer at Gettysburg and how they should have to wear period-correct costumes before being shot by Park Service employees. Just saying. That, and we start out by giving movie recommendations. Couple … Continue reading

Morans!
This picture will make sense later in the post. Seriously. Anyway, we’re back after a week off for undisclosed reasons. I’m not sure what happened, but it’s history now. We’re moving forward. Here are the jokes. Weis Markets has … Continue reading

Happy Shark Week!
Tom and I were really glad that that whole debt ceiling thing was solved early on during Shark Week. It would have been a shame had that political spectacle spoiled Shark Week. We discuss Shark Week and a documentary titled … Continue reading

A text version this week
Tom did something to his back so he’s kind of wheeling around here on his desk chair. That has nothing to do with our inability to record a podcast this week. But it’s something. It’s been a busy week around … Continue reading

We’re back!
After a week off — Tom wasn’t here and I didn’t feel like recording a session of me talking to myself — we’re back with a fresh batch of jokes about Rupert Murdoch and Borders and whatnot. First, though, a … Continue reading
