Well, that was something.
Sunday's NFC championship game not only summed up the Eagles' season, it reflected the entire experience of being a Philadelphia fan.
Think about it. The Eagles started out well, scoring the first time they touched the ball. Then, they played played lousy, made stupid mistakes and fell behind to the point where you abandon all hope and curse the day you decided to be a fan of this team.
Then, they came back dramatically, sparking hope, and once they took the lead, you were making plans for your Super Bowl party.
Of course, down the stretch, they blew it. The last drive by the Cardinals, you expected the defense to stop them. You really did. And when they didn't, deep down, you knew all along that this was how it would end.
And that kind of summed up what being an Eagles fan is all about. They create hope, they make you believe and then, they dash your hopes in the most painful way possible.
That's what they do. Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory -- the Philadelphia Eagles way.
So congratulations to the Cardinals. They deserved to win. Their quarterback, Kurt Warner, made the plays he had to make. Their star wide receiver, the amazing Larry Fitzgerald, had a great game.
Good luck in Tampa. After watching the Steelers survive the Texas Steel Cage Match with the Ravens -- the hardest-hitting football game I've seen in a long time -- they're going to need it.
