Mark Jovich, who runs the Central Pennsylvania Martial Arts Academy in New Cumberland, said his fighters are getting ready for their bouts at the Empire State Warrior Challenge’s Fall Brawl on Sept. 6.
“We’re just running one- and two-minute drills,” he said. “Every situation imaginable, just running them through.”
At the June 22 Empire State Warrior Challenge — held at Blackthorn Resort in East Durham, NY — CPMA fighters won four of six bouts.
“The first time, we were just getting these guys, skill level-wise, to know what they are doing,” he said. He’s had time to analyze the mistakes from the first event, to better prepare for the second, Jovich said.
Although he’s only been running MMA training at his dojo for about six months, his fighters have shown their hearts are “just unbelievable,” he said.
This time around, Jovich has secured six fights and is looking to match up two more of his fighters.
Good luck to all of the CPMA fighters from MMA Explosion.
