Team Serra fighter Matt Arroyo
More funny stuff from the boys ... we start off with Team Hughes fighter Dorian Price stressing out over fighting - he thinks he'll be called next.
Coach Matt Serra has the pick, and he does in fact choose Price to fight his guy, Matt "No Regard" Arroyo.
Hughes thinks Team Serra has fallen into another of his traps, believing they've underestimated Price's striking.
In training, Serra yells, as Arroyo pounds on a heavy bag: "Dorian, we're gonna break your teeth!"
Hughes then gathers his team together and passes out Bibles, asks them to read a passage in the Book of Esther.
"And I want you to tell me who I would be in the Book of Esther. Who I would be. Me, Coach Hughes," Hughes said.
Hughes fighter Jared Rollins to the camera: "It's like, you're God, right?"
Mac Danzig chimes in with, "That's definitely not my thing, man. I'm here to train, I'm not here to find myself spiritually. If he were to cross the line and start beating me with a Bible instead of his gloves, then I'd probably have to say something."
Another fighter, I'm not sure who, said: "Seems like a trap, because I didn't see any farmers pick anybody up and slam them in the Book of Esther, so I don't know who Matt Hughes is."
So, we finally find out that Matt Hughes thinks he's the queen in the story -- oooohkaaay.
"I am the queen because she gets to do good for her people," Hughes said. "That's just the way I am. I could leave this sport and work in a nursing home, to be honest. I just really like helping people out."
Then there's some training footage: looks like Arroyo and Price is your classic groundfighter versus striker.
Serra's response when he finds out Hughes just passed out Bibles: "Holy s---!"
Serra fighter Joe Scarola, defeated last week, agrees to stay on to help train the guys, but all he talks about is his "girl." He asks Serra to use the phone (again) to call her, to which Serra says to the camera, "Joey is slowly starting to give me a heart attack."
In the fight, Price starts by throwing a couple of high kicks, which Arroyo checks. Arroyo throws one of his own. There's a clinch and a flying knee from Price. Arroyo gets a single-leg take-down, winds up in Price's guard.
Arroyo stands up, throws Price's legs aside and gets side control. Price gets a half-guard on Arroyo. Arroyo gets the mount, rains down punches and elbows. Price rolls to his back and Arroyo sinks in a rear-naked choke. Price taps.
Hughes then prays with his team in the back room ... and that's when my tape stopped. I gotta set it for 11:05 or 11:10 p.m. I'm too old-school and poor to get TiVo. Until next week, people ...
