WEC 34

Urijah “California Kid” Faber (L.) squares off against Jens “Lil Evil” Pulver.
An event that’s been primarily overshadowed by the CBS/EliteXC event is WEC 34, to be held tomorrow, June 1.
It promises to be a very good one – we’ve got Urijah Faber defending his featherwieght title against a man some say will be the toughest challenge in his career: former UFC lightweight champ Jens Pulver. My heart says Lil Evil, but my brain says Faber is just too young, too strong, too fast for Pulver.
At 33-1, Miguel Torres should not be a sleeper of a fighter, but he was, and probably still is to some degree. He’s been showing up on some rankings, which prompted me to ask, who the hell is this guy? Well, if he wins on Sunday, he’ll probably be next in line for the featherweight belt. OK, yep, I’m going with that, Torres over Yoshihiro Maeda with a submission victory.
Former WEC lightweight champ Rob McCullough tries to get on the comeback trail after losing his belt to Jamie Varner at WEC 32. He’s facing Kenneth Alexander, a 5-2 muay Thai and wrestling practitioner who seems to prefer groundfighting. I see McCullough getting the hunger back and coming away with a TKO win.
The main card starts at 9 p.m. on the Versus network.
