DREAM.6 - Mousasi wins grand prix

| | Comments (0)

Gegard Mousasi, whose last name sounds very similar to "Musashi" as in Miyamoto Musashi, Japan's master swordsman (and author of The Book of Five Rings), won the DREAM middleweight grand prix. In his first fight, he defeated Melvin Manhoef by triangle. Manhoef was quoted later as saying he was surprised Mousasi didn't stand up with him, as Mousasi had said he was going to do. Um, Melvin, that's called the "bait-and-switch". Everybody knows you're one of the best middleweight strikers in the world, but don't have much of a ground game. How do you win at MMA? Exploit your opponent's weak points.

Then Mousasi went on to face Ronaldo Jacare Souza in the finals. Most people thought Souza would take it all, but, similar to The Spanish Inquisition, nobody expected the up-kick.
