Drue Moore launches Moore MMA in Red Lion

Long-time martial arts student and teacher Drue Moore, who has competed in amateur MMA events in New York, has set up an MMA training facility in Red Lion at 24 S. Main St.
Moore, 48, told me he’s been training in martial arts since he was about 8, in such styles as karate, judo, boxing, wrestling and jiu-jitsu. He said he favors the stand-up game, but has also become a student of groundfighting.
Moore, whose school has been open for about a year, has a small but growing group of students, and is “open for anybody who wants to come in.”
“We’re just starting from ground zero,” Moore said of his students. “They all want to fight right now, so we’re training that way.”
Moore has kept up with the sport’s imminent legalization and the movement to promote an event in York shortly thereafter. Although he’s at ease being a teacher, Moore would still like to jump in the ring or cage again. He enjoys training, but trains even harder if he’s motivated, he said.
“I always need something to shoot for,” he said.
