Hey York, are you ready for this?!?

Mark Jovich, head trainer at Central Pennsylvania Martial Arts Academy in New Cumberland, has been approved to promote an amateur/professional MMA event in York at the Holiday Inn on Loucks Road on Saturday, April 25, he told me today.

The event is called the Central Pennsylvania Warrior Challenge.

I met with Mark and his planning committee earlier this week at the Holiday Inn, where he showed me a list of possible bouts - three pages long. This will definitely bring the sport into the state with a bang, people. Mark had inquiries from more than 65 fighters, both from York County and surrounding states. As it looks right now, one side of the card should be all local guys, and the other side fighters from the other states.

Act quickly, because tickets will go fast. Log on to http://www.warriorchallenge.info. to order tickets, or contact Mark at jovichm@msn.com or 717-250-8841.

Doors at the Holiday Inn, also known as "The Holidome," located at 2000 Loucks Road, West Manchester Township, open at 5 p.m. The main ballroom, where the event is being held, can only seat about 800.

Seating is as follows: general admission, $25.00; VIP Seating (1st and 2nd row), $50.00.
