You’ve probably heard the story of how “Judo” Gene LeBell, the Godfather of Grappling, choked out Steven Seagal on the set of a movie in which Gene was stunt coordinator. If not, check it out here and here. But have you heard the “Ballad of Gene LeBell”, written and performed by Michael Vendrell? It’s about Gene’s fight with pro boxer Milo Savage in 1963, known as the first televised MMA fight. Somebody on Youtube made a video for the song, and what do you know, Seagal plays guitar!

My name is Ted Czech, and I've worked in York, Pa. for eight years as a police reporter. I've been a fan of MMA since UFC 1 -- seriously -- and I've dabbled in a few styles like karate, kung-fu, taijutsu and submission wrestling.
