Just received the latest email from York Mixed martial Arts Academy in Red Lion. And here we go:

Hello everyone. This is Coach George bringing you more exciting news about the academy.

1: Brett "Night Crawler" Myers is on good pace and is currently prepping for his title bout in October. To mix things up a bit we have added on (Aaron Hubbard) as Brett's dietary advisor and strengthening coach. Muay Thai instructor Bob Bitner will be working with Brett to focus on different stand up tactics and I will continue to push Brett's ground game. Tickets are now available. Both general admission and v.i.p are on hand, please contact us to purchase your tickets for the Oct 26th event. Don't miss out!

2: Birthday Shout-outs: Aaron Hubbard recently turned 29, and Art McGinnis recently turned 65, oops, I mean 56 (ha ha) last week. Side Note: In the event that I am not present at class for a while, it's safe to suggest that the deliberate mix up in my father's actual age may have cost me a limb or two : )

3: Coach Bob Bitner
will be tentatively stopping in every other Friday for our MMA / Striking class. He starts tonight at 6:30pm. I have worked with Coach Bob a good bit recently and he is simply a joy to work with and extremely knowledgable. He is also responsible for training the up-and-coming MMA fighters and title holders Ryan Harder and Jay Haas. All are welcome, non-members will need to drop a $10 mat fee.

4: Recent promotions. Brett Myers received his 3rd stripe on his blue belt for yet another successful BJJ submission during his last MMA fight. Tommy Fleming received his second stripe. Aaron Hubbard received his 4th stripe and is on pace to be evaluated for his blue within the next 6 months. The following students all received a stripe on their white for their activeness within the school (tournaments, attendance, advancement). Brandon Bull, Tony Lamanna, Jordan and Justin Messersmith, Sam Kubala, Mike Parusa, Colton Keener, Drew Casserly and Sonja Good. Others will receive a stripe once they have completed their beginner class internship.

5: MMA seminar in Spring Grove! We have been asked to schedule and perform a mixed martial arts work shop at the Spring Grove Recreational Center on Sept 16th 09. The seminar will run for two hours and is a great opportunity for us to show others what a great program we have. Our Red Lion class will most likely be canceled that day and we are hoping on a decent turn out. If all goes well, they have already approached us about potentially opening up their weekly night schedule (Tuesdays / 6:00pm - 7:30pm) for an 8 week contract. If the class is a hit, we'll generate another contract and keep the cycle going to where we may eventually need to schedule yet another night class for the week. This is very exciting because not only will we be opening a second location, but we were insisted upon by the Rec Centers director due to our reputation. Way to go guys, you did it! There are nearly a dozen said mma locations in Central PA and we got the call. That's absolutely awesome. You should all be very proud.

6: Sept 1st - Tuition adjustments: Monthly tuition fee's will likely remain the same, but the current 'drop in' mat fee cost will increase from $10 per drop in to $15. This is simply a design to encourage our drop in students to join making the schools budget a little more consistent and manageable. The math - should you elect to remain a pay per class student, you will be spending (on average) an additional $40 a month. Again, this is not being instilled as a means to gain finances, its being installed as a means to generate a consistent budget that will allow our staff the opportunity to plan ahead and make changes that will ultimately benefit you as the students. Pass it on...

7: We are looking for feedback for the academy. Anything, and we mean anything at all that is on your mind, please do not hesitate to contact us. We feel that with you all being the paying clientele that you should have a reasonable opportunity to express your questions and or concerns to our staff. Should it be something you would feel more comfortable speaking of anonymously, please put together your thoughts and drop them in the dues box at your convenience. We strongly insist upon confidentiality, so any and all suggestions will be taken under silent advisement.

Thank you all again for another great month, and we look forward to seeing you all at the next scheduled class : )

Sincerely Yours: George McGinnis
