I blog regularly about local MMA academies like MACE, York Mixed Martial Arts Academy, Hanover Academy of Mixed Martial Arts and the Academy of Combative Arts, but I wanted to let everyone know about Sibora Chan's American Kenpo Karate Studio. I met Master Chan several months ago at Hooters and mentioned it here, but never said anything further.

Chan is a 6th degree black belt in Kenpo, carrying on the tradition of Ed Parker, the man credited with bringing the art to the U.S. from Hawaii. Parker was the man who held fights in California where Bruce Lee displayed his own art, Jeet Kune Do.

Here's what Chan's Web site says about his MMA classes:
"Mixed Martial Arts Combat Sport is definitely one of the hottest competition sport today! As seen on TV the UFC, Ultimate Fighting Championship, WEC, BoDog and others!

This is HARDCORE training for those who are interested in Mixed Martial Arts Training and competitions. We're currently accpeting students with or without experience to join our competition team. In this program you will learn some of the best stand up striking techniques based on Prahyut Kbach Khmer, a full contact kickboxing system originated in Cambodia. This system employs the extreme use of elbows, knees, clinches, takedowns and heavy knockout punching and devastating kicking techniques. You will also be trained in ground fighting techniques, grappling techniques based on BJJ and Judo. Come with a friend, and learn how to ground and pound with us. You will love it!!

Not for the weak hearted! If you're up for the challenge and think that you have what it takes to join our team, Please Call For More Information!"
