Larry Novak of Tattoo Fightwear sent me an email about the latest fighter he's sponsoring, Indiana welterweight Kevin Barkdull:
"He will be fighting Chad Reiner from the UFC on Aug. 28. Kevin is 21 years old 6'1" weighing in at 170. Kevin has been fighting for 4 years now and has moved to the professional side of fighting. He studies Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, karate, with a backround of wrestling, boxing, Tae Kwon Do, and Muay Thai. He is not ranked and is a freestyle fighter with excellent striking abilities as well as cardio."

"Kevin trains with Jason "the GIZ" Gilliam, Ryan "BAKI" Stout, as well as specifically striking with Sean and Sonnie Johnson. Kevin was 6-1 as an ammy and currently sits 2-0 as a pro having faced Kevin Mcintosh and Jason Bott. Kevin faced Bott for his pro debut in November 11, 2008. Kevin beat Bott in the 2nd round with a rear naked choke. He then went to face McIntosh on March 14, 2009 of which Kevin won in a minute 30 in the first round also with a rear naked choke.
Kevin's next fight is in 8 days in Anderson Indiana at Hoosier Park Racing and Casino (War in the Yard). Kevin will be facing Daniel Head who has a impeccable jits. It should be a very good match-up and an overall good fight card. After the 8th he will be traveling to Des Moines, Iowa on August 28th. In this bout he will face Chad Reiner from the UFC (veteran of UFC Fight Night 8 and 10). So again another great match up.
Kevin is a very devoted fighter, and is willing to jump in the cage with just about anyone. Kevin has worked hard for everything he has achieved and is striving to be the best he possibly can in this sport. If he is not in school, or at work you can usually count on him to be in the gym or training outside at the camp.
I think Kevin will most definitely be taking off here shortly, things are really starting to fall into place for him and he is looking more crisp than ever before. He is feeling very confident in all of his work and training partners going into these next fights."
