MMA social netowkring site Mmamelee.com has a great interview with York County fighter Justin Scott:

Justin "Skiz" Scott, an amazing talent just 20 years of age is making his pro-debut this Friday night at the Central Pennsylvania Warrior Challenge III. Justin is a member of team M.A.C.E training out of Central Pennsylvania Mixed Martial Arts Academy who along with teammates Chad Strawbridge and Duane Bastress have been dominating MMA events in PA ever since it became legal. MMA MELEE sat down with Justin to congratulate him and discuss the path MMA has led him down.

MMA MELEE- Congratulation on your successful MMA career. When most 20 year olds are out partying and barely even pondering their future, you work a full-time job and now you're turning pro in the most vigorous sport on the planet, how do you manage to stay focused and keep moving forward?

JUSTIN- Staying focused isn't hard for me these days. My first MMA fight was when I was 18, right away I understood the dedication needed to excel in this sport so I started making sacrifices then. I do miss hanging out with my friends but I don't think I'm missing out on life, MMA has helped me grow up faster. I stay focused by accepting any challenges the world throws my way and then I set goals for myself. I enjoy what I do everyday and I have a good team behind me, I wouldn't have it any other way honestly.

MMA MELEE- Are you more nervous going into your first pro fight than you were going into your first amatuer fight?...and does the crowd have anything to do with it?

JUSTIN- No, I wrestled in front of packed crowds a Iot. I never actually get nervous before any of my fights, I take that as sorta my advantage and I think it reaffirms my love for competition.

MMA MELEE- Yeah you are no stranger to competition you had 105 wins in high school and then a perfect 7-0 amatuer MMA career. We are always curious to ask undefeated fighters what is the key to staying victorious and when do you know the fight is yours?

JUSTIN- The mental game is a huge part of it. If you break someone mentally they arn't worried about winning the fight anymore, they are more worried about surviving the round in one piece. I guess its like they say after someone has been knocked out a couple times it's easier to knock them out again. The switch just turns off easier. I believe the same thing happens with losing period, if you give up one time I believe it's easier for you to give up again. So I just strive to break them mentally.

MMA MELEE- This Friday you are fighting Tim Wade a boxer by trade, do you plan on taking him down right away?

JUSTIN- I've grown a hell of a lot. Being a well rounded mixed martial artist takes time and I've been working hard on every phase of my game. If that is his strong point I'd like to stand in there and bang and see where my boxing skills stand but I'm comfortable wherever it goes.

MMA MELEE- What do you think the key to taking your game to the next level is?

JUSTIN- It's very hard to have a successful career in MMA, it takes a lot of time and with the sport being so young there isn't much money in it. Support is crucial, getting fans out to see my fights is key. I've been getting good help from Tattoo Fight Wear and Apple Ford, if I can rally some more good sponsores like them I can focus more of my time to training and speed up my progression, I think that's the key to elevating my game to the next level.

MMA MELEE- Do you have any predictions for this fight?

JUSTIN- I'm actually fighting this fight for my best friend Zac Sweitzer that passed away a year ago next month, I grew up with him and wrestled with him in high school and today is actually his birthday. I'm going to use his memory to help fuel my fire inside the cage and I'm definetly coming out with a victory for him. Miss you brother.
