For his upcoming fight with Chael Sonnen at UFC 117, UFC middleweight champ Anderson Silva enlisted the help of Steven Seagal … ok, just wanted to give that time to sink in. Now that you’re over the initial shock, this video is interesting from a number of angles – first of all, it seems like Silva was crossing off something on his bucket list. Before I die, I want to train with the guy who was in Out for Justice and Under Siege. I’m just not sure how applicable aikido is to MMA. Second, I’m glad to see they got to defending the shoot at some point, because it’s really no secret that’s what Sonnen intends to do – take Silva down. Third, seems like some of what Seagal was showing was catch wrestling, like a can opener, and fourth, looks like Silva does have a good grasp of English since I didn’t hear Seagal saying anything in Portuguese and Silva seemed to understand just fine. Most importantly though, I want to hear what Sonnen’s gonna say about all this.
