By Loretta Hunt, sherdog.com:
Strikeforce lightweight champion Gilbert Melendez has been a busy man since his April 17 victory over top-ranked Shinya Aoki in Nashville, Tenn.

In this Sherdog.com video exclusive shot at Strikeforce "Live" on June 16, Melendez updates the fans on his suspension for participating in April 17's post-fight brawl, his injured hand and the arrival of his first daughter, Laila, in two months.

"El Nino" also welcomes a bout with Bellator lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez, if both promotions can work out an agreement, and targets when he'll return to the cage.

Not only will this be a great fight in terms of two of the top-ranked lightweights in the world stepping into the cage, but I think a Bellator-Strikeforce co-promoted card would do very well, business-wise. Put it in Philly's Wachovia Center (Alvarez's backyard), have several more intriguing co-promotional fights, and you've got yourself a mega-card sell-out.
