War Hab!
Kyle Habersham, who trains at Hanover Academy of Mixed Martial Arts, just announced he is one of 7 contestants competing to win a $12,000 scholarship to Sheffield Institute for broadcasting. His first assignment, as a 98 Rock intern, is to create a page and get as many fans as he can.
Here’s some of what Kyle wrote recently: “Today I received and email introducing me to The Lopez Memorial Scholarship (http://www.98online.com/pages/jocks_mas_sheffield.aspx).
This Scholarship is truly proof that trials and tribulations are only blessings in disguise, for what life’s plan is for me. I decided to make changes in my life shortly after my most recent layoff. The first change was to put forth efforts to fulfill my dream of working in entertainment, starting with radio. The second change was to go back to school.
Here is where the Lopez Memorial Scholarship would be a wonderful solution for me. Working in the entertainment industry is a serious pursuit of mine. Currently, I run several segments on a weekly basis. These can be found on popular social networking sites. Two of my most popular segments are ” Ask A Brotha” and ” Shout Out Thursday”. ” Ask A Brotha” is a segment that is run by a character that I created that goes by the name “Tron”. Simply put, Tron is here to share knowledge in the art of extreme elucidation. He is here to bestow upon all answers to questions that we all know exist. Some of his most popular segment topics are,” Relationship Advice” and “The 5 W’s of Black People”.”
Shout Out Thursday” is a creation of mine as well. Every Thursday I allow my facebook page to be used by all of my friends to give a ” SHOUT OUT” to anything and everything that is going well in their lives. Although I am always thinking about innovative ways to entertain, I realize that I must have the proper educational background in obtaining my dreams. The short term benefits of The Lopez Memorial Scholarship are very clear cut. It will allow me to matriculate at The Sheffield Institute, where I will obtain the background knowledge to get into the entertainment industry, beginning with radio.
However, it is my conceptual view of this scholarship that carries the greatest benefit of all. This benefit is the one that ultimately matters. It is the benefit of the fans, which will sequentially be my support system. With my radio persona that I bring to the table coupled with a great education from The Sheffield Institute, there is no doubt in my mind that I will be able to deliver worthy material. Everyone wins!
Here’s Kyle’s hilarious video, “Ghost Ride the Whip,” which got some attention from G4:
