Dennis Bermudez on Shine Fights’ grand prix: “I’m ready to go.”

Yesterday I posted that Dennis “The Menace” Bermudez was added to the Shine Fights 8-man, 1-night, lightweight grand prix this weekend. The tournament recently had a venue change from The Patriot Center in Virginia to an Indian reservation in Oklahoma. Tip o’ the hat to Paul Miles from Mid-Atlantic blog for the head’s up. Dennis then sent me this message:
“I am indeed in the tournament. I believe Marcus (Aurelio) backed out of the tournament. I heard he was scheduled to fight in dream in 2 weeks. I’m ready to go. I got on the card about 3 weeks ago as a replacement. I then took off/quit from my job @ UPS in Harrisburg & went back to my roots. I went back to Bloomsburg University where I wrestled. The head coach there, John Stutzman then started training me in strength & conditioning as well as wrestling. In addition, I trained with (UFC lihjt-heavyweight fighter) Tim Boetsch and he trained me in conditioning & worked w/me on my mma skills and game plan for the tournament. So for the last 2 1/2 weeks I’ve been working w/those two gentlemen in preparation for the fight. it is my understanding that Shine Fights has had some financial issues in the past, hopefully that is no longer the case and I get paid. Otherwise I’m looking forward to the opportunity to represent Central Pa as well as my friends and family in New York.” -Team MENACE
