Just heard from Cage Fight promoter Maury Nehme that CF 6 goes down Nov 26th at the Ice Box Complex in Scranton, Pa., with what promises to be a tremendous main event: local favorite – and undefeated featherweight – Jimy “the Kid” Hettes will defend his Pennsylvania Cage Fight Series Featherweight Championship against New York’s Anthony Leone, who just had a fight in the WEC.

I’ve followed Hettes for quite a while, but this is the first I’ve heard of Leone, although that’s got to be my fault. Leone is 8-1, having lost in June by armbar to Renan Barao at WEC 49: Varner vs. Shalorus. A couple years ago, he trained for nearly a year with BJ Penn, and now calls Ryan Ciotoli’s Team Bombsquad in Cortland, NY home. Bombsquad is a great camp, having seen them in action at Thunder in the Dome, and also knowing that they have produced one of the best light-heavyweights in the UFC in Jon Jones.
From the video below, Leone is a very aggressive fighter, not afraid to hit or get hit. He throws fast straight punches, which he mixes with a solid wrestling game. With his take-downs, pitbull-like style and strength, Leone should be Hettes’ toughest test to date.
Hettes, 4-0 as an amateur, and 7-0 as a pro, has finished all of his opponents within the first round by submission. He trains at Gracie NEPA in the Scranton area, so from his record and his camp, he’s got a fantastic jiu-jitsu pedigree. In his last fight, Hettes showed he’s been worked on his Muay Thai, throwing a high kick and a flying knee before finishing Dwayne Shelton with a guillotine. Lean and long-limbed, Hettes will present a problem for Leone with his 3-inch height advantage, which will probably translate into a significant reach advantage. In short, this fight is one not to miss.
