TTD kickin’ it old school.
Just got an update from Chad Strawbridge, head trainer at Team Total Domination in Red Lion. As always, there’s a lot going with TTD. First of all, Chad said he some attitude adjusting to do with the team. After stringing together a number of wins, some of the team got a little lazy and started missing more practices than they were attending, he said.
After Central Pennsylvania Warrior Challenge 12, in which his team went 1-3, Strawbridge said, “We’ve got a lot of work to do. I guess it’s time to re-start and re-do this.”
More than a month later, Strawbridge had good news, saying of his team’s recent practices, “It’s been very hard. I can’t wait to see what the results are.”
Part of Strawbridge’s old-school return-to-basics is a road trip to Virginia to train with Team Assassin in a couple weeks.
“They’ve got a 24-foot cage, wall-to-wall mats,” he said. A group of TTD guys are staying with Mark Jovich, who lives in VA, promotes CPWC, and helps train the fighters at Assassin. Other TTD fighters will be bunking with Assassin members at their homes.
“We’re going to have a grappling tournament,” Strawbridge said. “Then, we’ll have some smoker fights. I’ve got a couple guys, we’re going to let them loose,” before they have sanctioned fights.
Speaking of sanctioned fights, six TTD fighters are scheduled to see action at Jovich’s next event, held at Millersville University on Sept. 17. TTD will have six fighters on the card: John Andell, Rome Dingle, Matt Lozano, Mike Serrano, Justin Wilkins, and Jarret Teague.
In addition, Dwayne “The Storm” Bastress makes his long-awaited return to fighting on FightRight MMA’s Oct. 1 event in York. Strawbridge said he expects Bastress to rejoin the team soon, although the layoff hasn’t slowed The Storm down — just the other day, he did 25 100-yard sprints, Strawbridge said.
