The MMA World Expo, taking place this saturday and Sunday in New York City will feature two competitions: The Renzo Gracie BJJ Open, and the STS – Striking, Take downs, Submissions. The STS is an interesting concept to get around the ban on MMA in New York: You can have all the elements of MMA, you just can’t do them all at the same time. So, they just broke them up into rounds:
Round 1
Muay Thai – 2 minutes
Round 2
Wrestling – 3 minutes
Round 3
No Gi Grappling – 4 minutes
And, the fights will take place in 20-foot Hexagon cage, courtesy of mark Jovich, promoter of the Pennsylvania Warrior Challenge.
