Look for Mauricio "Shogun" Rua and one of the Nogs (must be Big, 'cause Lil is not with the UFC) toward the end of the video.

Lyoto "The Dragon" Machida

from screenhead.com:
The Expendables cast grows bigger as the trades are reporting that the Brazilian duo The Nogueria Brothers and Lyoto Machida have been offered roles in Stallone's upcoming action film.

Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and his twin brother Antonio Rogerio Nogueira are two of the biggest named in MMA. Rodrigo is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu master while Rogerio was the 2006 and 2007 Brazilian super heavyweight boxing champion.

Meanwhile, Lyoto Carvalho Machida holds an undefeated MMA record having never lost a single round in the UFC.

If the trio join the film, they will be playing alongside a whos-who list of action stars, including Jet Li, Jason Statham, Steve Austin, Mickey Rourke, Randy Couture and many others.
Machida challenges Rashad Evans for the UFC light-heavyweight title at UFC 98 on May 23.

Couture vs Big Nog at UFC 101

Couture Accepts UFC 101 Bout with Nogueira by Tom Hamlin of mmaweekly:

A long-rumored bout between former UFC heavyweight champion Randy Couture and former UFC interim heavyweight champion Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira appears set to take place.

According to multiple sources from Couture's camp, he has agreed to face Nogueira at the yet-unannounced UFC 101 sometime in August. The event may take place in Portland, Ore.

The UFC is now awaiting a response from Nogueira's camp.

Previously, Couture was offered a fight with Nogueira in the first half of 2009, but his role in Sylvester Stallone's "The Expendables," set to film in late March, got in the way.

Couture was also rumored to be under consideration for UFC 99 in Cologne, Germany on June 13, but a source indicated he would be unable to complete a proper 8-week training camp and would not take the fight.

Nogueira was last seen at UFC 92, where he lost his interim heavyweight title in a TKO loss to current interim champ Frank Mir.

Couture - who has fought for or defended a title in 15 of his 19 UFC fights - lost the undisputed heavyweight title when he succumbed to strikes against Brock Lesnar at UFC 91.

Now that's a photo: Three fighters in UFC 92's triple main event, training together: Wanderlei Silva, who fights Rampage Jackson in the sport's biggest grudge match, Forrest Griffin, who defends his LHW title against Rashad Evans and Antonio Rodrigo "Minotauro" Nogueira, who defends his interim HW belt against Frank Mir.

from Wand's Web site:
Along with coaches Amaury Bitetti and Rodrigo Artilheiro, Rodrigo Minotauro set off this Friday (December 12) for Las Vegas, where the final of the eighth season of the The Ultimate Fighter reality show will take place. In the USA, Minota will only return after his December 27 challenge against Frank Mir. And for this UFC fight to determine who will challenge Brock Lesnar for the definitive UFC heavyweight belt, the Brazilian will count on a big-name buddy: Wanderlei Silva.

In the past the news would be hard to believe, since the two fighters belonged to teams with a fierce rivalry - BTT and Chute Boxe, - but the current MMA panorama makes it clear those days are gone. These days professionalism comes first and, as the two will go to battle on the same day (Wanderlei faces Quinton Jackson), so they decided nothing could be better than making a union between compatriots.

"We're going to be in the corners for the final fights of the TUF house. After the event, we'll stick around till Minotauro's fight," said coach Amaury Bitetti, who added:

"We should train at Wanderlei's gym, in Las Vegas, and use the structure he has set up there. Rafael Alejarra, who's a really cool guy, and Wanderlei himself invited us. We'll train together and put together a strategy. We'll be mostly swapping information," said Bitetti, who, when asked if Nog and Wand would be training together, responded:

"That's right. United we stand!"

Odds say Wand and Rampage even

I don't know much about betting, but looking at what the odds are on a fight can sometimes give you insight into how other people view the fights.

So, what I've picked up is that the guy with the "-" in front of his name is favored to win over the guy with the "+" in front of his name. You'd think it'd be the other way around. Anyway, here's something you don't see often - Silva and Jackson are even. As much as I like Wanderlei, I have to agree - the fight could go either way.

Mir +225
Nog -350

Jackson -120
Silva -120

Griffin -150

What's next for Brock?

brocklesnargold.jpg

Coming up in December, we have the other bracket of the 4-man heavyweight tourney, Interim heavyweight champ Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira vs. Frank Mir.

Mir, a former heavyweight champ, knee-barred Lesnar in his first UFC fight. According to mmaweekly, Lesnar wants to avenge the loss, calling Mir out at the post-fight press conference. It might be a different story if the two meet again - Lesnar appears to have evolved in just three fights n the UFC.

OK, so Lesnar takes on Nogueira/Mir, and if he gets past either one of them, there are several others waiting. Contrary to what many say, the heavyweight division isn't that thin. There's Shane Carwin, Cheick Kongo, Cain Velasquez, Gabriel Gonzaga, Fabricio Werdum and Antoni Hardonk. That's not a bad list of heavyweights, plus anyone else the UFC hires in the interim.

Unfortunately, I don't think we're ever going to see Fedor vs. anyone from the UFC. Fedor's management and the UFC bosses both seem set in their ways and unable to give an inch.

Dana to Browning and Nelson: "Be a man."

the-ultimate-fighter-8.jpg

By Thomas Gerbasi, ufc.com
UFC President Dana White has a television brought into the house for the fighters to see the UFC 84 pay-per-view card featuring the lightweight title bout between BJ Penn and Sean Sherk. Junie Browning and Shane Nelson take this opportunity to have a few drinks, and after some good-natured fun, things start to get out of hand, culminating in Browning throwing a glass and cutting Kyle Kingsbury on the left forearm. Browning thinks that spells the end for him in the house.

Meanwhile, Nelson is getting into it with his housemates as well, and he pushes Roli Delgado and Efrain Escudero, who show remarkable restraint in not retaliating.

Browning and Nelson proceed to go outside, where the hijinks continue as they throw the house's furniture into the pool. Light heavyweight Krzysztof Soszynski has seen enough at this point, and he steps in. Browning challenges Soszynski to hit him, but the 205-pounder holds back. Soszynski gets the last laugh though when he throws Browning's clothes into the pool, sparking another confrontation. As Browning confronts Soszynski, Ryan Bader throws Browning's clothes back into the pool, and the cycle repeats itself, with Browning now attacking Bader and Tom Lawlor.

Forrest to defend title vs. Rashad

UFC_wallpaper07.jpg

from Kevin Iole, Yahoo! Sports:
As recently as Monday, UFC president Dana White said there were "lots of moving parts" as he tried to complete the company's end-of-year fight cards.

On Wednesday, he at least got the top three fights of UFC 92 finalized. The co-main events will feature the interim heavyweight title match between champion Antonio Rodrigo and Frank Mir. Forrest Griffin will defend the light heavyweight title against Rashad Evans and Quinton "Rampage" Jackson will meet Wanderlei Silva, who defeated him twice when they fought in PRIDE.

The Jackson-Silva card had been considered for UFC 91, when the card was slated to be in Portland, Ore., as well for UFC 94, which will be Jan. 31 in Las Vegas.

But White said he wanted to "stack" the UFC's traditional New Year's Eve weekend card and managed to do so by putting four of the company's most popular fighters on the card.

The UFC has officially moved the fight card across Las Vegas Blvd. from Mandalay Bay to the MGM Grand Garden.

Jackson will be fighting for the first time since losing the light heavyweight belt to Griffin at UFC 86 on July 5 and a bizarre traffic incident on July 15 in suburban Los Angeles. Jackson was driving on the wrong side of the road and on sidewalks and fled even while being chased by police.

He was charged with two felonies and three misdemeanors and has pled not guilty. He has a Nov. 3 court appearance scheduled.

White has said no drugs or alcohol were involved and that Jackson's actions were fueled by "delirium" caused by days of little sleep, little food and water and excessive intake of energy drinks.

Randy reportedly negotiating new contract with UFC

couture_champ.jpg
Randy Couture caves in Tim Sylvia's face with his fist en route to winning the UFC heavyweight championship.

by Michael Rome from bloodyelbow.com:
I've spoken with a lot of people about Randy Couture in the last day. Things are definitely happening.

First, I can say with 100% certainty that there are current negotiations for Randy Couture to return in November to main event, and that the current proposed opponent is Brock Lesnar. They can't get Fedor, too many issues to work out on short notice, and he has a US-only non compete with Affliction.

This will be a new contract, not a return to the old one. It will likely pay him more and give him more benefits, but it will lock him into the UFC for the long term. In exchange for signing it Zuffa would drop all breach of contract charges.
