Recently in Blue Horizon Category

A while back, I made a post about an event at The Blue Horizon in Philadelphia on June 11 called Broad Street Brawlers, put on by Valley Fight League in West Virginia.

Today I checked the Pa. State Athletic Commission's Web site, but couldn't find any results on the show. I emailed Greg Sirb, the commission's executive director, and he emailed back: "Event was cancelled."

I check the Blue Horizon Web site, which had a statement:"THE MIXED MARTIAL ARTS EVENT PREVIOUSLY SCHEDULED FOR JUNE 11, 2009 HAS BEEN POSTPONED."

And finally, VFL's Web site: "NOTE: Due to matters out of our control, this show will be rescheduled for a later date. Keep posted to the site for the new date. Thank You for your understanding."

So, I really don't know what caused the event to be canceled. But, the good news is, promoter Lionell "L-Train" Royer has another Valley Fight League event scheduled for July 24 in Altoona:

I meant to say I had a short conversation with Greg Sirb, executive director of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Commission earlier today.

Greg was at the Penn on Pain Street, er, I mean, the Pain on Penn Street event Saturday in Reading and said it was a "good show." The event was a half-boxing, half-MMA affair, featuring six MMA bouts.

The event drew 1,600 attendees at the Sovereign Center, Sirb said.

For Sirb, it's on to the next show, which occurs June 11 at The Blue Horizon.
