A team of five fighters from Mark Jovich's Central Pennsylvania Martial Arts Academy (located in New Cumberland) will step into the ring this Saturday at Warrior Challenge's "Bike-n-Brawl" weekend in East Durham, NY.

Justin Scott, competing at 155 lbs., will put his 3-0 record on the line in the main event while John Andell, who has a 2-0 record, will compete at 135 lbs., Chad Strawbridge at 195 lbs., Brent Kroh at 135 lbs. and Ryan Hefflner at 145lbs.

"We're looking forward to it," Jovich said Wednesday. "We're well-prepared."

Jovich, a career U.S. Marine, said the weekend is called "Bike-n-Brawl" for two reasons: there will be 3,500 bikers there, and a ton of fights.

"I think there will be more fights outside the ring than inside," he said. The event also features music from Molly Hatchet and Hank Williams III, he said.

Jovich said CPMAA stand-out Scott's opponent is a 26-year-old U.S. Army sergeant with a 5-0 amateur boxing record. This is the Army sergeant's first MMA fight, Jovich said.

The guy's definitely going to have his hands full with a buzzsaw like Scott.

"Justin has the boxing skills to hang with him; we're not worried about that," Jovich said. He added that recently he was holding focus mitts for Scott, who hit so hard at one point, Jovich thought his wrist was broken.

Let's talk tough. That's Brent Kroh. On Tuesday, he was in gym class at Dallastown, slipped, and struck his head on a set of bleachers, opening up a nasty gash on the top of his head.

"He's stapled up like Frankenstein," Jovich said, adding that the gym floor, "Looked like a murder scene."

But Kroh is insisting on fighting, so Jovich says he's going to have someone hollow out the inside of the headgear Kroh will be wearing so it won't come in contact with his staples.

"How do you tell a guy who's worked as hard as he has," that he might not fight, Jovich said. Win or lose, for Kroh to just get in the ring and compete with that type of injury is a testament to his fortitude, he said.
