Funny Chuck vs. Rashad gifs
As much as I respect and like Chuck, these were too good to pass up. I hope he gets back to form and goes out with some more devastating KOs under his belt.
In the meantime, I found these on the Sherdog forum ...

Local MMA clothing company Tap or Sleep, helmed by Jerod Phillips, has hooked up with Chuck "The Iceman" Liddell's new supplement company, IcemanRx, Jerod told me today.
And in light of that, Jerod's offering a deal to all the fighters, and even those who want to train like fighters: Order an item from Tap or Sleep, and get a 20 percent off coupon on any IcemanRx products with your order.
According to its Web site, IcemanRX's pre- and post-workout capsules help "push the body beyond common plateaus, boosting the drive an athlete needs to reach the next level of strength, training and conditioning intensity. IcemanRxâ„¢ was specifically developed to support the intense workout rigors of athletes needing to achieve peak physical condition and enabling them to remain at the top of their game."
The company is also offering a sweepstakes, where the grand prize winner get a trip to Las Vegas, tickets to a UFC event and an H2 Hummer:

All right, so by now you've probably heard that Rashad Evans knocked out Chuck Liddell. Cold. With one punch. As much as I don't care for Evans' showboating, you have to respect his abilities.
The first question is where does this leave The Iceman? Fighters can come back from devastating knockout losses. Wanderlei Silva did it - he had back-to-back knockout losses, courtesy of Cro Cop and Hendo. Before the fight with Rashad, Chuck talked about making another run at the title, implying that it would be a great way to end his career, but he also talked about fighting for years to come - a little Randy Couture, anyone?
Maybe it's time to get a new trainer. I know Chuck considers John Hackleman family, but something might need to be fixed. Jerod Phillips, who owns Tap or Sleep fightwear, hit the proverbial nail on the head: They finally started figuring Chuck out. He throws looping punches, and he keeps his hands down low. Couture, in their first meeting, got inside and dirty boxed him, evading the looping, yet dangerous bombs that Chuck can unleash.

I just watched the live weigh-ins for UFC 88-Breakthrough. All the fighers made weight. Chuck Liddell looked more cut than usual at 204 pounds, although he still had a little of his trademark "beer gut," as some would call it. I prefer to think that's where he gets his power. The Power of the Gut.
Liddell and Rashad Evans had a curt handshake and an intense staredown.
Rich Franklin looked good at jumping up to 205. Jason Lambert, dropping from 205 to 185, looked like he made the right move. And Rousimar Palhares, Dan Henderson's opponent, looked huge and cut. He's short, but has the physique of a bodybuilder.
Chuck Liddell and Rashad Evans squared off at the press conference held earlier today for UFC 88 - Breakthrough in Atlanta, Ga. Rich Franklin and Matt Hamill, who also meet in a light-heavyweight bout, seemed like old friends - and they do go back a ways - at the presser. A great display of sportsmanship, one I see more often in MMA than any other sport out there.

Randy Couture caves in Tim Sylvia's face with his fist en route to winning the UFC heavyweight championship.
by Michael Rome from bloodyelbow.com:
I've spoken with a lot of people about Randy Couture in the last day. Things are definitely happening.
First, I can say with 100% certainty that there are current negotiations for Randy Couture to return in November to main event, and that the current proposed opponent is Brock Lesnar. They can't get Fedor, too many issues to work out on short notice, and he has a US-only non compete with Affliction.
This will be a new contract, not a return to the old one. It will likely pay him more and give him more benefits, but it will lock him into the UFC for the long term. In exchange for signing it Zuffa would drop all breach of contract charges.

Lyoto
From Tatame.com:
At UFC 89, two unbeatable fighters will colide on the duel that will put one of them to meet a loss for the first time. With 13 win in a perfect card, Thiago Silva won 11 by knockout, and that's why Lyoto Machida predicts a fast fight against him at UFC 88. "I believe this fight won't go to decision... Thiago likes to fight aggressively, me too, he has good MMA techniques, so I believe this fight might finish before the third round", said Lyoto, that is training hard. "I'm training a lot, actually I hadn't stop training since my last fight. Now I'm doing a specifically training focused on Thiago, preparing my strategies and working on the physical preparation... I'm very focused", said the athlete to TATAME.com.
Ted's Take: Man, I am psyched for this one. Both these guys are undefeated, tough, Brazilian fighters, with very different styles. Both are great on the ground, and Thiago is an agressive muay Thai striker, while Lyoto prefers to be, as many have said, "elusive," making his opponents miss and then counterstriking. I'm thinking whoever wins this one gets a title shot, probably after Chuck Liddell.

Jerod Phillips, owner of York County's Tap or Sleep fightwear, will have another ad in nationally-distributed FIGHT! magazine. This one's got Chuck Liddell on the cover, so you know it's going to sell well.
Jerod's ad is on page 75 and features the East Coast contingent of his "family" in James "Binky" Jones and Chris "The Story" Liguori:

Sherdog member "TanMan" started a thread on sherdog.com about MMA's current win streaks:
Fedor Emelianenko (WAMMA heavyweight champion)
26 Fight Win Streak
Paulo Filho (WEC middlewieght champion)
16 Fight Win Streak
Miguel Torres (WEC bantamweight champion)
15 Fight Win Streak
Lyoto Machida (top contender to UFC light heavyweight title)
13 Fight Win Streak
Thiago Silva (top contender to UFC light heavyweight title)
13 Fight Win Streak
Urijah Faber (WEC featherweight champion)
13 Fight Win Streak
Anderson Silva (UFC middleweight champion)
8 Fight Win Streak
TanMan writes: Anyways I have Thiago going down next. IMO Machida has better stand up, ground game, and game planning on his side. If Faber ever moves up I have him also
Ted's Take: TanMan forgot UFC light heavyweight Rashad Evans, who is fighting Chuck Liddell at UFC 88 - Breakthrough on Sept. 6. I say Rashad goes down first before anyone else on this list. I guess you could argue that Evans (11-0-1) does have a slight blemish on his record (a draw with Tito Ortiz), but he has yet to be defeated.

Best of friends, worst of enemies: Tito and Dana.
From 411mania, by way of The Wrestling Observer:
Dana White is interviewed in the new issue of Playboy that hits stands tomorrow. Highlights are below.
On UFC's place among the major American sports: "What are the major sports in America right now? The NFL and Major League Baseball, with the NBA third. The NHL was fourth, but now we're fourth, and we're still in our infancy. Our ratings on Spike TV beat most of the major sports in our 18-to-34 demo. Last year we beat four Monday Night Football games in the demo. In eight years, the UFC will be bigger than the NFL, bigger than World Cup soccer. It will be the biggest sport in the world."
On Mark Cuban & Donald Trump getting involved with MMA: "Mark Cuban's a smart guy. He's passionate about basketball, but I don't think he gives a sh*t about mixed martial arts. He sees some quick money in it. Trump's different. I have a ton of respect for him. When the Fertittas bought the UFC, most venues wouldn't deal with us. We were outlaws. Out first event was at the Trump Taj Mahal, and Trump actually came to the fights. You'll never hear me say a bad word about Donald Trump. He can have my seats anytime."
On MMA violence: "People think our sport's more violent than boxing. Wrong! They're weirded out because it goes to the ground. We grew up with John Wayne movies--you don't hit a man when he's down. It's un American! John Wayne would deck a guy, stand him back up and hit him again. So when Americans first watch UFC--one guy's on top of the other, hitting him when he's down--they say, 'Oh God, he can't defend himself!' It's not like that in Asia, where they've been doing martial arts since the samurai days."
On Tito Ortiz: "That big-mouthed bit*h, that clown. Back when he had the title, he refused to fight Chuck Liddell. He sat on the sidelines for a year and a half, crying, 'Aww, I don't have any money!' So I brought him back and made him a coach on The Ultimate Fighter. That year he made more than $6 million, yet he bit*hes about me. Well, I put up with Tito's sh*t when he was a decent fighter, but now he's not and I don't have to... Did you see what a wall flower he was on [The Celebrity Apprentice]? The guy has no presence. He was the idiot hiding in the back. If he actually did something, people would know how stupid he is."

Here's the site. Looks like some good names, like the return of Rich Franklin at 205 where he takes on Matt Hamill, Pa.'s own Tim "The Barbarian" "The Replacement Killer" Boetsch, Dan Henderson, and Karo Parysian.
