Now this is a funny video.

We've got a rivalry based on the sophisticated, sports jacket-wearing Shamrock and the street-wise, hoodie-sporting Diaz. My favorite quote: "It's called business casual, Nick. You didn't get the memo?"

Frank's gonna smash 'em

Frank Shamrock: I Am a Fighter

from a sherdog.com story by Danny Acosta. The story was about Frank saying that GSP is the modern version of the complete fighter, as Frank was back in his prime. But toward the end of the story, Frank talks about his own style and hwo he needs to adapt it, as he has done so many times in the past:

"I'm gonna smash everybody," said Shamrock, never one to lack confidence. "I'm tired of entertaining for the sake of entertainment. Now I'm just gonna destroy everybody, and people can just be entertained by that. I've decided my limbs are too valuable to be breaking for the entertainment of fans. I'm gonna break other people's limbs."

Ted's Take: I've always been a big Frank Shamrock fan. I met him in 2003 in Columbus, OH, at the Arnold Classic, right before his fight with Bryan Pardoe. I remember asking him what he had been up to lately, and he said, "At the end of the month, I'm kicking some guy's ass."

Frank went on to win the fight quite handily, getting an armbar on Pardoe and earning the WEC LHW belt. Frank definitely has a flair for the dramatic, trying to entertain the fans, as well as win fights.

One of the best examples of this is his fight with Phil Baroni. Frank talks - and taunts - Baroni throughout the fight. At one point, Frank puts his hands together and then points at Baroni, as if to say, "I'm gonna put you to sleep." And that's exactly what Frank does. After softening Baroni up with strikes, Frank takes the fight to the ground and chokes Baroni out. Cold. Then he kicks an unconscious Baroni off him.

Frank's plan seemed to have backfired when he took on Cung Le. Frank's a great striker, but even so, going up against a dangerous kick boxer like Le, you'd think Frank would take the fight to the ground, where he would most likely have the advantage. He didn't. He chose to stand with Le, who seemed unaffected by Frank's taunts. Frank lost the fight after it was discovered his forearm was broken from defending Le's powerful kicks.

With the statement above, it's hard to say whether it's more grandstanding from a man who knows how to hype himself, a fight and the fight game, or if he's for real. You'll just have to tune in to Strikeforce to find out. I know I will.

by Loretta Hunt, sherdog.com:
Frank Shamrock will fight Nick Diaz at Strikeforce's April 11 event on Showtime.

The bout, which Strikeforce and Showtime announced Tuesday, will be contested at a catch-weight of 179 pounds.

The outspoken Shamrock is coming off a loss to Cung Le in a March 2008 Strikeforce event. His arm was broken by Le's kicks in the entertaining 15-minute match. Before that defeat, Shamrock choked out Phil Baroni in a June 2007 Strikeforce main event.

Diaz, who is perhaps even more outspoken than Shamrock, has won three straight. Most recently he stopped Thomas Denny in a July 2008 EliteXC bout.

Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker also said Tuesday that Cung Le will not fight on the April 11 show due to an elbow injury. However, Coker expects Le to fight twice for Strikeforce in 2009, and he expects one of those fights to be a rematch with Shamrock.

Dave "Pee Wee" Herman

from sherdog.com
Kerry "Meat Truck" Schall was no match for Dave Herman.

The undefeated Herman continued his rapid ascent up the EliteXC heavyweight ladder, as he needed just 66 seconds to put away the UFC veteran on the ShoXC "Elite Challenger Series" on Friday at the Horseshoe Casino in Hammond, Ind.

The victory -- Herman's 11th in the first round -- moved the 24-year-old Indiana native to 12-0. His stock remains on the rise inside a promotion where elite heavyweights are few and far between.

"I don't really care [who I fight next]," Herman said. "As soon as possible would be nice. The opponent doesn't really matter."

From mmajunkie.com:
All fighters scheduled to compete at tonight's ShoXC: Elite Challenger Series event have made weight for the show.

The fighters hit the scales Thursday night.

Tonight's event, which airs on Showtime, takes place at the Table Mountain Casino in Friant, Calif., and features a main-event rematch between Po'ai Suganuma (9-1) and Jared Hamman (9-1), whose original fight in April ended in controversy.

Back at an April ShoXC event, Hamman clipped his opponent with an overhand right, but Suganuma delivered a flying knee that connected. The blow floored Hamman and ended the bout. Hamman immediately sprung to his feet to protest the stoppage -- to no avail.

They'll fight again tonight on a solid ShoXC lineup.

The full weigh-in results included:

Jared Hamman (203.5) vs. Poai Suganuma (205)
Cyrille Diabate (203.5) vs. Jaime Fletcher (204)
Fabricio Camoes (161) vs. Sammy Morgan (160)
Debi Purcell (129) vs. Rosi Sexton (130)
Keith Berry (191) vs. Ray Lizama (190.5)
David Douglas (154.5) vs. Marcus Levesser (154.5)
Lucas Gamaza (169.5) vs. Kenny Johnson (171)
Jesse Brock (139) vs. Josh Rave (131)
