About this blog

I'm Amy Gulli, the day metro editor at the York Daily Record/Sunday News. When I'm not at work, I'm mommy to two wonderful kids. My daughter, Samantha (in the photo above), was born in July 2003, and she quickly taught me that being a mommy is the hardest thing I will ever do in my life. Mr. Noah (in the photo below) was born on Christmas Day 2007, and HE quickly taught me to abandon all attempts at housekeeping.

Progress! … and I don’t like it
For the last three days, Sam has worn underwear instead of diapers at day care. And for the last three days, she has peed in the potty and had no accidents. Cause for rejoicing, right? So why am I kinda … Continue reading

It really is different
I’ve spent the last few days reading and watching stories about the Saturday night fire in a York city home that killed two children — Jordyn Ehrmann, 5, and Kyler Moyer, 2 — and their great-grandmother, Nancy Hull. I’ve read … Continue reading

I’m a mom
My kid, Samantha, is 3 years old. If you ask her, “How old are you?” she proudly holds up three fingers and says, “3!” If you ask her, “How are you?” she proudly holds up three fingers and says, “3!” … Continue reading

Chickenbutt
Sam called me a chickenbutt the other day. It came out of nowhere. It was a word I’d never heard her use before. And I was suddenly caught in a discipline area I didn’t expect to hit for at least … Continue reading

Potty training, part 849
I waved good-bye to pee-pee the other day as it swirled down the drain. And I was surprisingly sincere about it. My husband decided last week that Sam’s gotta catch up with this potty-training thing. So he switched our tactic. … Continue reading
