We recently redecorated Sam's room. We figured we'd do her room first and make it a big special deal so that a) she won't pitch a fit when we put together the baby's room, and b) we can use her crib and armoire in the baby's room.
It's pink and yellow with flowers and butterflies, and I've gotta say that, even though I'm so not Martha Stewart, it's turned out adorable. I'm actually proud of myself.
With the new room came a new big-girl bed. She had been sleeping in a toddler bed, but we got her an actual twin bed. Of course, no matter how cool it looks and how much she loves her new room, adjusting to a new bed is tough. So she's been in my bed in the middle of the night a lot lately.
Disclaimer: I'm a fan of co-sleeping. I think snuggling up to a sleeping baby or kid is among the sweetest times you get with them. Feel free to disagree with me. My husband does.
Anyway, Sam was in my bed this morning, sleeping smack across the middle so that I was scrunched up in a ball (which is definitely NOT comfortable when you're six months' pregnant). I was watching her sleep for a while before she slowly woke up, fighting it the whole way. Finally, she looked at me and grinned a little.
Sam: "Mommy, my eyes are still sleepy this morning, OK? They just need to sleep a little more."
Too sweet. I smooched her on the forehead and told her I understood, even though I have no idea how your eyes continue to sleep once you're awake and you've got them open.
Whatever.
What's your view on co-sleeping?

I might not have a child, but a puppy is a little similar. Snuggling is the best and most treasured time you can have with a child or a dog. While co-sleeping proves to be a different story as Lucy does take up most of the bed or sleeps on my head, I think with a child a parent would always be most careful.
i am all for co-sleeping. my husband is an over the road truck driver and frankly i can use the company. i also think that it is no greater way of bonding with your child, besides i need the sleep!
Co-sleeper here with anti-co-sleeper hubby. ;-)
