It's not all bad
I live basically in the mountains, near a huge chunk of state gamelands, so we get a lot of wildlife in my backyard. This winter, my husband put out a salt lick and a pile of corn for the deer that often wander through.
Well, we also have a creek at the back edge of our property. And, being a body of water, it's prone to flooding when we have too much rain. So our yard -- and, much to my dismay, our basement -- got flooded last week.
One day after the water had started to recede, Sam said to my niece-in-law Gina, who was staying with us, "Oh, no, Gina, the liquor's all gone."
Gina -- who is just about the sweetest 18-year-old you can ever imagine -- calmly said, "The what?"
"The liquor's all gone," Sam repeated in her isn't-that-just-awful voice.
"The liquor?" Gina asked her.
"Yeah," Sam said. "The licker that Daddy put outside for the deer."
Yes, indeed, the licker was all gone.
=)
